On the 2nd of March 2015 at Lichfield, owing to indisposition, the Speaker was unable to attend but kindly sent his speech to Derek Walker who read it with a dramatic interlude with Richard Davies which was well received.

In Edinburgh in August 2013 we were privileged to hear Billy Kay speak on “Boswell Knee Deep in Claret”, which sounds worse than it was. Among those present were six Boswell family members from Balmuto Castle in Fife.

On November 6th at Auchinleck House, Derek Walker gave his fascinating Presidential Address on “Ecumenical Boswell,” which was well received.

On 19th October at bath we were treated to Rita Boswell’s research into her branch of the family, whose ancestor Charles went to Jamaica and met James the Biographer on his return, when “each could see a likeness in the other.”

Dr Marie-Jeanne Colombani from Paris spoke to the Society at 12 noon on March 2nd 2014. Dr Colombani,  who is Corsican by birth, has a great interest in James’ visit to General Pasquale de Paoli in 1765. The Annual Meeting preceded Dr Colombani’s remarks at 11:30 a.m.

Alexander Boswell, Vice Lord Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire, invited us to his home at North Crawley (near Newport Pagnell) on Wednesday May 14th, 2014 at 12 noon for lunch; David Boswell was the speaker. Thomas David Boswell (1748-1826), the Biographer’s younger brother, lived at Crawley Grange.

What has traditionally been the August meeting in Edinburgh is being relocated in 2015, on Friday the 14th of August, to Balmuto Castle in Fife.
